Leptospirosis Outbreak

Recently there was an outbreak in several dogs of leptospirosis in a boarding facility not far from our North Scottsdale Grayhawk location. To try to ensure that our pet-parents understand the possible risk to their loved dogs, please read the following info on this disease - or skip to the last section to see our recommendation on whether your pet needs to be vaccinated! 1. What is it? Leptospirosis is a bacterial disease that is shed in the urine of infected animals. The bacteria are passed through the urine into water sources, where they reside and reproduce. The bacteria can be present in any stagnant surface water, moist soil, and recreational water sources such as ponds and lakes.
